Reviews – What People Are Saying
There are several reviews posted throughout the internet and I’ve realized that majority of them consists of positive reviews, that gave the airport an impression of being an efficient and convenient airport to arrive and depart to. Here are some of the reviews that I’ve gathered.
“We would like to give our thanks and gratitude to the efficient custom and police officers at the Chengdu International Airport on 17 April 2015. We were with a tour group and were about to board flight CA403 at 2000 hrs to Singapore. At approximately 1900hrs, my husband realized that he had forgotten to retrieve his wallet from the immigration scanning machin. He then approached the officer to retrieve the wallet but it was nowhere to be found. The custom officers and police immediately took action to retrieve and review the CCTV footage based on the information provided by my husband. About half a hour later, the suspect was found to be on board the same flight as us. The suspect is a lady in her early 30s with a baby, another toddler and an elderly lady. When she was identified by the officer as the culprit , she had no choice but to dig right to the bottom of her bag to retrieve my husband’s wallet. We sincerely appreciate the efficiency and swift action of the officers and the team in the co-ordination to resolve this issue. We like to especially extend our sincere thanks and gratitude towards Officer CD1624 (We have forgotten his Chinese name) . I do hope that due recognition will be accorded to these officers for their dedication towards upholding the integrity of their profession. Thank you!”

“Chengdu is the better choice for stopover than Beijing. Less hassle and much more comfort. Only thing in Chengdu is that you have to check out with your full luggage and check it in again for the onward flight. The shops struggle with other languages and currencies, so be prepared with some chinese rimimbi if you want to buy something. Just for laugh: check the escalator built inside the luggage belts in the pick up area. They decorated it with some plants… I have to smile everytime I pass it.”

A large scale expansion of the airport was conducted on flight area and the navigation area from 1994 to 2001. The runway was extended allowing for larger jumbo jets including the Boeing 747-400. The newly built terminal was incorporated with three parallel-porch design, accommodating an hourly capacity of three-thousand-five-hundred passengers, especially during rush hours, while the previous terminal building was only designated for regional flights within Sichuan and Chongqing. The construction of the second highway began in 2008 and commenced in December 2009, as well as the new terminal building which they began constructing on June of the same year (2009). The new terminal is twice the size of the current T1 and allows the airport to handle up to 50 million passengers annually.
